Fashion-studio DORIENDAVID is both a designstudio. workshop and shop as well as Dorien and David’s joint enterprise.
The activities of DORIENDAVID include, designing clothes, making patterns and pilot models turning out the design that have been picked out or having them turned out.
The fashion-designs are displayed at DORIENDAVID’s fashion-studio in Rotterdam.
DORIENDAVID’s designs are exclusive and sold under their own name and label: ‘Signed DORIENDAVID’.
Building up the collection of feminine comfortable clothes paramount, using traditional methods in their manufacture.

The main features of the collection

DORIENDAVID’s collection is distinguished by two features:
-Party, gala and bridal dress
-Clothing for other special occasions
The entire collection is characterized by clothing designed for enterprising women ladies and girls of all ages who like to be well dressed. The collection is distinctive though very comfortable at all times.
Clothing made to measure (the ‘couture-way’) is a specialty of fashion-studio DORIENDAVD.
Brides who want to look different pay a visit to DORIENDAVID’s. The collection ranges from the subdued to exuberant, fairy-like at times, then somewhat extravagant again. Romantic dresses jostle with high swinging creation with surprising details.
Fabrications of various luxury silks appeal to everybody.
But other natural materials and blends with synthetic fabrics (and lycra) are not shunned.
In addition to various models of short or long, wide or tight, dresses and matching jackets of the collection of gala and party-dress DORIENDAVID also design distinctive skirt-suits, skirts, trousers or slacks and tops.

Custom-made clothes: a central role of the customer
It is the customer essentially who makes a selection on the various models of the collection present in DORIENDAVID’s fashion-studio in various sizes, materials and color-creations.
When the customer places the order the execution of it in a ‘couture-way’ is DORIENDAVID’s major concern.Every attention is given to detail and quality.
To see if everything is to the client’s satisfaction a cloth-fitting appointment is made right at the start. If customers expectations are met a date will be arranged for final delivery.

Collection 2008/2009: The Unbearable Lightness of Fashion

Her newest collection ‘The Unbearable Lightness of Fashion’ (2008-2009) is characterized by DORIENDAVID’s experiments with soft fabrics like voile (crepes) and lace.
In the former collection ‘The Art of Fashion’ she refers to her opinion of fashion as an art, not an industry and the necessary craftsmanship of the mètier.
Collections therefore were ‘The Outskirts of Fashion’, ‘The Enjoyment of Fashion’ (inspired on Brazilian food, or a flirt of fashion and food), ‘Van Dali tot Gala’ (inspired on the Surrealism of Salvador Dali), ‘No cheap thrills, no trendy tricks,no nothing…..just fashion’, ‘Unbeschreiblich Weiblich’ (inspired on Frida Kahlo and Marlene Dietrich), ‘Down to earth, made in heaven’, ‘High fashion of the Lowlands’ en ‘Fairy tales from a Metropolis’.
